We went to six actors and after six rejections, I told Shakun that we should drop the idea and he started developing another screenplay. No one was willing to do Fawad Khan's role. We kept it on the backburner for over a year.
There was a point when we almost didn't make it. He said, "Kapoor and Sons' (Since 1921) was a tough film to cast. Fawad Khan has been much appreciated for his performance in the recently released Karan Johar movie Kapoor & Sons. However, in a recent interview with a leading daily, filmmaker KJO explained how it was very tough for him to find an actor for that role.
